Well guys, I tried to put these pictures up earlier and my whole post was deleted from my drafts, so here is a second try...I'm sure you remember the snow (my birthday). Sophie was interested, luckily we took her out before breakfast to see the snow falling. After we were out for about 10-15 minutes (enough time for a baby-and me :) ) it started to be that 'ole slushy stuff.Do you remember the movie, "A Christmas Story"? Remember the part where the boy is so wrapped up in the snowsuit that he couldn't let his arms down? Sophie tried, but there was no mobility in this thing :)Ok, in the above picture, it looks like she is annoyed or about to cry when really Sophie kept trying to look up at the falling snow, then that would startle her and so on...

Ok, back to no mobility...

Sophie and I did build a snowman...look what a good job she did making the bottom...
Of all the snow activities, eating snow was by far the favorite. Sophie didn't really like it-put it in mouth, too cold, make terrible, betrayed face, demand more. Repeat process. After a while she enjoyed it and finished off a plate. Note the PJ's. We stayed in them ALL day!!!

Whew, our first time at Chuck E. Cheese, and I was brave. I let Sophie go and she loved it. Of course she picked up a germ and she spent the weekend sick, but she did have a good time...

Chuck E. was very interesting. She waved &
waved but he never waved back... and then this guy came around. See the confusion, she is looking at the animatranic mouse and the "real live" mouse....I think this was a high school boy who was afraid to hold her hand.

I have fond memories of the Discovery Place, especially the big eyeball. when I used to be in Girl Scouts, we had overnites there and would fight over who got to sleep inside. So, taking Sophie back was fun.. We went with Lora and Lily (Thanks, Lora for the pics) Silly me forgot my camera, so here is just a few graciously emailed my way :)

We Wish you a Merry Christmas

Ok, guys, I know this is (very, very) late. But don't stop checking yet...

Sophie's first Chirstmas was wonderful. It is our tradition to always go and pick out a real tree. When Sophie is older, we may go cut one down.We went to the Christmas Tree Farm on the corner of Kings and Morehead. The tree did very well, the needles never did drop.
Sophie was very intrigued our tree.Here is Sophie enjoying the smell of Christmas!
Here is our decorated tree (can't see well-sorry) We eventually had no ornaments on the lower half of the tree, but more because of the dog rather that the baby :) Although she did try to taste one or two.sophie enjoyed opening her gift from her aunt before Christmas. The second picture is Sophie's aunt and my sister Judy along with her two cousins, Julian and Colin.
Ah, Christmas morning. Now, all these presents under the tree are not for Sophie, they are all the presents for everyone at all!! I wanted to see what she would do when she saw the previously bare tree after "Santa" had visited.
Sophie is asking, "Can I really do it?" "You're not going to say No?" "This is for me?!"This is my favorite picture ever. We got Sophie her first doll, a Cabbage Patch. I had one when I was a little girl and she still lives in the bedroom. I wanted Sophie to have something she has had since her very first Christmas. Her name is Anna Mimi, and they bear a striking resemblence. Isn't that adorable?
Once she saw the toy Daddy got her, the doll was forgotton!!! This is a walker, what can you expect!!

All in all, Christmas was so much fun...and Sophie spent most of her time doing what she loves best... "walking" All day walking, without any naps......

Ok, I have not updated in quite a while. We have some great Christmas pics but they will have to wait and be included in the big Christmas update:)

But, in the meantime, Sophie has been up to quite a few things. In one week (big week) she got her first two teeth, started crawling, started pulling up, she is trying to stand, using a walker to walk about the house and is making a "woof" noise everytime (any animal-all animals are doggies) comes around.
Last night we tried a bubble bath, and while Sophie loved it, it was not the best idea! She does look cute though. This is Johnson & Johnson's bedtime Bath and it says for babies over three months. What they don't tell you is that once you hit the "mobile age" your little one chases the bubbles and eats them. I guess they are yummy. But Sophie chocked herself, too much bubbles at once, so we had to empty the tub and start again. This next one you can really see her teeth!
Ah, memories. Now I am a very sentimental, sensitive type of girl. I had this rocker when I was a little girl and loved it. I am so excited that Sophie gets to share in the same rocking chair. She will have so much fun rocking her dollies:) Already she likes it. Once she figured out that if she wiggled it moved she was all smiles. Calls for close watching, since she hasn't figured out that you have to step down, I guess that will come a while after walking :)

Just chillin' out...
Sophie and Lily are getting so cute together. A few weeks ago when they were at the park, they even held hands. Could you get any sweeter?

Of course, both girls looked at us (me and Lora-Lily's mommy) like we were crazy taking so many pictures. After all, they were just talking.

Walking is Sophie's favorite thing in the world to do. Except now she uses the walker and has learned how to cry when you make her stop...Girl knows what she wants:)

A Day in the Woods

Sophie's first mountain trip. We took her to Blowing Rock (which didn't really impress her) She mostly liked the trees and the gravel under her feet :) Here she is by "The Rock" We were too nervous to let her sit alone there, although she has been sitting by herself for months.
After the trip to Blowing Rock and Sophie's afternoon snack, we took James' advice and went down the parkway to Cascade Falls. It was a bit nervewracking carrying a wriggly baby down step trails, but definatly worth it. Sophie's favorite thing is water, she loves to swim, take a bath, watch any fountain anywhere, so this waterfall was amazing. She jumped and talked and smiled and laughed. It was the cutest thing ever.

After the waterfall, it got cold fast, so we had to cut the trip there. But it was a good day. Below is a picture of one of the incredible sunset views!

Dedication

We had Sophie's dedication at the church (where we promise to raise her in the ways of God) on 5 November. I thought I would share some pictures. This is her in her dress before church. I have to get the actual dedication picutures off the CD :)

Renaissance Festival

I always liked the Renaissance Festival. Always thought it was nice to be a princess (or even a peasent) for a day. Where everyone calls you "My lady" a girl could get used to that. This year, we let Sophie take over the costume and we went just as civilians. But still, it was a good time. Our little faerie princess was, of course, the prettiest lady there. One man even said and I quote "that is the most adorable baby I have ever seen in my entire life" And oh, she flirted with him. She smiled and talked and laughed. And her daddy did not like that so much :) Apparantly some Renaissance lady even blessed Sophie's birthmark on her head. ( I had stepped away) It's good to let her see these fun things, even though she may not remember them:)

Our faerie princess!!

This is Maggie, the goose. Apparantly she loved babies. Sophie was not sure what to make of her, but she got a hug anyway.

Sophie (and Mommy) enjoyed the camel rides. Seems, Sophie loves all animals!! Especially birds and ridable ones :)

Ok, this picture is not related, but I just had to include it. This was at Stowe Park, Sophie's first time in the swings by herself. she enjoyed herself. Already so independent.

Pumpkin patch number two

Well, Sophie went to her second pumpkin patch. this one had a bonfire (which she found very interesting) and we got two more pumpkins (which we really need to do something with). We went with our small group at church so there were kids everywhere :) I think everyone had a good time though. I have also included some other pictures.

New Developments:
Sophie is practicing her standing. No pulling up yet but if she has something to hold onto she stands without a bit of hesitation. She's is my smart girl.

Hi guys

This is my first blog of Sophie. First blog ever! Sophie just turned six months old two weeks ago and she is a mess!! She is my little honeybear! What a sweetie. The first picture is from our day at Hunter Farm-where Sophie got a pony ride, saw a petting zoo (favorite animal-chickens; actually birds of any kind). Miss Sophie is doing all kind of fun things now. She loves going on adventures, she is sitting and REALLY wants to walk away. She loves to "talk" and pet the animals, she loves to ear (our curse). She is also saying Ma-Ma, although not directed at me quite yet. I'm waiting on that wonderful day!! so far, this mom thing is awesome-I always have been domestic. Oh yeah, Matt's enjoying himself too. More to come!
